Immigrant Culture and Art Association (ICAA) has organized numerous artistic and cultural events in the community with the help of dedicated immigrant musicians and cultural professionals as well as with the cooperation of low-income and underrepresented artists in the community.
The Immigrant Culture and Art Association envisions a Canada that recognizes and values the cultures, arts, and contributions of immigrant artists, and cultural workers, their organizations, and communities to the quality of life. We at the Immigrant Culture and Art Association aim to be inclusive, innovative, collaborative, active, and visible.
Main objectives of the Immigrant Culture & Art Association are:
Providing opportunities to the children and youth of immigrants and low-income families and involving them in productive, secure, and safe activities through art education and cultural events. Involving and integrating new immigrant artists and cultural workers into the mainstream artistic and cultural community life, settlement and integration. Job search and product marketing services for Immigrant and low-income artists and cultural workers. Exploring resources, enabling artists, musicians and cultural workers to earn their livelihood by working in their own profession. Introducing colourful culture and art from different parts of the world into the Canadian multicultural mosaic. Organizing and participating in the immigrant culture, positive customs, traditions, exhibitions, celebrations, events, festivals, music, arts, crafts and fashion shows and events. Antiracism and peace programs in schools and communities through art. Supporting and organizing sport activities that bring cultural diversity and peace among children, youth and communities. Participating in joint artistic educational and community programs with others having similar goals. Developing a home-based business for immigrant women who have rich experiences in arts, crafts, knitting, sewing and cooking. Working towards increased access and equity for diverse cultures, faiths, nationalities, and communities through arranging dialogues, workshops, and outreach programs through art and culture initiatives. Planning to incorporate artistic programs that will focus on examining, and exhibiting the importance of healthy environment. Recognizing the connection between the healthy environment and the health of diverse communities. Supporting and recognizing the diverse places of spirituality and faiths, to integrate diverse communities in the Canadian society. Developing cultural and art web sites, publications and educational programs. Organizing programs to support artists, musicians, writers, cultural workers and activists abroad who are under suppression.

Shoubu and Beautiful by Katarina BalmazanICAA's own Katarina Balmazan is presenting her first solo exhibition of drawings titled SHOUBU AND BEAUTIFUL. The Exhibit will be held at the Socald Studio and Gallery, 244 James St. N., Hamilton On., Opening reception is on Friday March 12th, 7:00pm during the March Art Crawl.
